Following are some quick guides for outdoor recreational activities in the Kanab area. This is a work in progress, and we will be periodically adding new guides and adding more details. They are intentionally brief to allow you quickly see what information we have and what appeals to you.

While I have extensive outdoor experience in much of southern Utah, I'm fairly new to the Kanab area. I wanted these guides to be based on personal experience, so there is much to do that is not covered here. As I am able to make trips out to Kanab, I will undoubtedly be adding a great deal more information. This area of southern Utah is so beautiful and there is so much to do, it could take a lifetime to see it all.

Zion - The third most popular national park in the United States. Zion is a veritable paradise for hikers, photographers, climbers, canyoneers, and nature lovers of all walks.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes - State park 30 minutes from Kanab, famous for its beautifully-colored sand. This park is a favorite for OHVs and hikers.
Thunder Mountain - One of the best mountain bike trails of all time. If you are an intermediate-or-better mountain biker, this trail belongs on your bucket list.
Tom's Canyon - A short scenic trail through Tom's Canyon for hikers and mountain bikers. The trailhead is just half a block from the house.
Hog Canyon - Popular system of OHV trails just a few miles outside of Kanab.
Tilted Mesa - A small multi-use trail system just a few miles outside of Kanab. These trails are equally enjoyable for hikers and mountain bikers. Tilted Mesa packs a lot of enjoyment for such a small area, with scenic views and numerous trails through diverse landscapes.
Gooseberry and Wire Mesas - Two expansive and scenic mesas out towards Hurricane with a large number of trails, popular with both hikers and mountain bikers.
JEM Trail - An extensive trail system towards Hurricane. Technically multi-use trails, but used almost exclusively by mountain bikers. There are a lot of trails suitable for beginners here.

OHV rentals are available through multiple outfitters in Kanab and the surrounding area -- with or without guides.
